Customer Question

Hi Matt. I have a 10 week old puppy weighs 2 pounds. Itty bitty but usually full of energy. She slept more than usual today and about 4 hours ago she became really lethargic. I can wake her up and get he to walk and wag her tail but she immediately goes back to sleep and is totally limp.

Aloha! You're speaking to Dr. Michael Salkin
I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Please let me know if you still need help. My initial concern for such a small pup who is so lethargic is hypoglycemia and so administering Karo syrup (or another sucrose-containing syrup) to Charlotte at a dose of 2.5 ml (1/2 of a measuring teaspoon) every 2 hours to see if she normalizes would be prudent.
I can't rule out that she's breaking with an infectious illness but that would be unlikely if she has been vaccinated at least twice by 10 weeks of age. Please let me know if that's the case and please give me an update on Charlotte.
