Customer Question

yes, I accidently gave my 15 lb pug a double does of her previcox. Just now. She got 57mg rather than 28.5 mg. She usually gets the 28.5 once daily. She is 12 and has arthritis.

Hello, Because I may be disconnected shortly, I wanted to get an answer to you now. Previcox is a fairly safe non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Yes, this is a double dose, but I am not concerned about any organ toxicity. My only worry would be if there was any pre-existing liver or kidney problems. Otherwise, at worst, it very well could predispose to diarrhea, or less likely vomiting. Now, if illness was to develop, a vet visit for some basic supportive care would be well worthwhile. Also, to help combat stomach upset, you could give some over the counter Pepcid A.C. antacid. You could give a 1/2 tablet of a 10mg regular strength Pepcid. But! If any bad illness develops, don't wait it out. Well worth the vet visit. Good LuckDr. Andy
