I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Those are the symptoms of back pain - in particular, intervertebral disk disease (a "slipped disk") in a 9 year old miniature breed. The carprofen (Vetprofen) is ideal and should be continued for a minimum of 10 days. Your vet may prescribe a skeletal muscle relaxant such as diazepam or methocarbamol plus an opiate analgesic such as tramadol as well. Until your dog can be attended to, please keep him/her as quiet as possible in order to minimize the risk of further trauma. Paresis (weakness) or paralysis in a limb(s) would indicate more prompt attention by a vet. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
