Customer Question

I'm concerned my poodle might have drank muriatic acid. He has eaten, and I gave him some milk to coat his stomach. He's not acting normal.

Hello, I'm Dr Gary. I've been practicing veterinary medicine since 2007. I look forward to helping with your questions/ concerns.
The good news here, is that the stomach is equipped to handle an acidic environment. The esophagus and mouth is where the problems would be. We can see burning and ulcers in the mouth and esophagus.
To help with these signs, you can use a liquid antacid. I would go with Mylanta or Maalox. You can give him 1/2 teaspoon 3-4 times daily for the next 3-5 days.
That should be all you need to do. He should recover fine from this.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
