my 110# ***** pit bull is covered withwhat looks like hives...her diet has not changed the backyard is the same...any clues as to what might have caused this and benedryl isn't really working...any suggestions?

If an urticarial reaction such as hives is unresponsive to an antihistamine such as Benadryl dosed at 50 mg for Keela and repeated at 8-12 hour intervals as necessary, a corticosteroid such as prednisone administered at 0.25 mg/lb and repeated at 12 hour intervals should be considered.
Urticarial reactions can result from envenomations by flying insects and spiders, food allergy, vaccination, drug therapy, and even environmental variables such as temperature and humidity changes.
