Hello, my name is***** and I have over 20 years of experience as a veterinarian. I'm sorry to hear that your fellow has a front paw with cold feeling paw pads and is having trouble bearing weight on the paw.
I believe he is stressed and panting as a response to pain. I would be very concerned about a possible blood clot blocking proper blood flow to his paw, which would be very painful and cause him to limp. Blood clots can be secondary to heart disease, kidney disease or a tumor causing irregular blood flow.
A tumor itself can also cause irregular blood flow and lead to cold paw pads.
Is there swelling in the leg or paw?
I highly recommend that your fellow see his veterinarian as soon as possible.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
