Customer Question

I have a 10 year old Lab/Border Collie mix. She started having periodic seizures at a year old. At 5 years old she was hospitalized and diagnosed with diabetes and is on insulin twice a day. At 7, she had nerve damage to her left front leg and at 8 had her leg removed. Last year at 9 she was diagnosed with Horners Syndrome. Through all of this she has been a happy active dog. Several months ago, however, she started seeming to have trouble walking, we took her to the vet, they said she was pretty healthy for being 10 and put her on glucosamine..since then she has started having more trouble walking and now she hardly lays down, she just stands around panting excessively, drooling a little and randomly barking..and her bark sounds hoarse. I feel like maybe she had a stroke or a really bad seizure that caused some neurological damage. Any thoughts?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.
Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner. If you would still like assistance, can you tell me:
Does she drag any of her feet, scuff her toes, or knuckle her feet (trying to walk on the top of the paw)?
How did she struggle when she walks?
Does she find it hard to get up after laying down?
