Customer Question

awake or sleeping, for hours now my 7 yr old Poodle has been rapidly taking short breaths. Ate his dinner seven hours ago. Normal activity (in house) for same time, with last five hours in bed. This shallow, rapid breathing is increasing slowly. It is 1:20 am at this moment. Thank you. Dale

Hello, I am afraid that the expert you have requested is not currently available. Still I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.
Are his gums pink or pale/white?
Can you take a breathing rate for me (just count his breaths for 10 seconds + multiply by 6)?
If you press on his belly, does he have any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?
Any tenderness elsewhere on the body?
Could he have eaten anything he should not have (ie bones, stones, socks, toys, plants, chemicals, human meds, etc)?
Any history of any health issues?
Does he sound congested or wheezy?
Has he and can he eat or drink just since this started?
