Customer Question

Dr. Salkin, As you know we have a 3 yr old female golden retriever--very smart, very active. She licks her paws often, over intermittent periods of time. She is on fish oil and Claritin and occasionally Prednisone. Though vets have said allergies, it only
happens when we are home, usually early a.m. and evening when we aren't paying attention to her--paws are never wet when return home. Thoughts?

Have you already tried adding bitter apple to her paws? IF the contact allergy has now turned into a behavior issue you should consider it to break her of the habit. Another strategy is to wipe her paws off after she comes indoors! This can lessen the amount of potential allergens on her fur!

I'm just following up on our conversation about Portia. How is everything going?
