My dog is having a reaction to his patio shot. Panting, sore.
Welcome and thanks for asking your question. My name isXXXXX am a licensed veterinarian. I am happy to answer your question today. First I need to ask you a few questions to be well informed and give you the best advice.

1- What kind of shot did he receive, a parvo shot?
2- How long has it been since he got the shot?
3- Any vomiting?
4- How much does he weigh?
5- Can you take a look at his gums and see if they are pink or pale?

There may be a slight delay between your follow ups and my replies as I type out a thorough reply for you.

Parvo & distemper

3 hours

No vomiting just extreme tender and shaking

As you have suspected he may be sore from the vaccination. Less likely it could be a vaccine reaction, this is what you can do:
1- Aspirin 81mg every 12 hours with some food for 3-5 days.
2- Benadryl (diphenhydramine) 25mg every 12 hours for 3-5 days.
3- If no improvement by tomorrow morning have him checked by family veterinarian. If you notice pale gums or difficulty breathing have him checked by ER veterinarian.

My goal is to provide you with excellent service – if you feel you have gotten anything less, please reply back. I am happy to address follow-up questions. Thank you for your business and I hope to work with you again soon!
