Dr. G. :

Hello, my name isXXXXX am a licensed veterinarian and I will try and help you as best as I can

Dr. G. :

I am sorry to hear Princess has injured herself

Dr. G. :

It sounds like she is quite painful.

Dr. G. :

She will need strict rest for the next week or so. I think she really should visit a vet today to have a good exam. Likely she will be fine with some dog safe pain medication from your vet, but it would be good to have a thorough exam to rule out any major injuries. most commonly we see soft tissue injuries (muscle injuries), which will improve with rest and pain meds

Customer:

How should i give her strict rest because she is usually running around all the time (even just now while limping) and tried to even jump around

Dr. G. :

She should be in a crate for now until she can get to the vet. Is she crate trained yet?

Customer:

umm what do you mean by crate trained..?

Dr. G. :

Crate training is typically used for young puppies so they can learn to stay in a crate and sleep while you are not home. It also aids with potty training. So likely, she is not crate trained. Keeping her in a small playpen or bathroom may work as well to keep her from having too much activity

Customer:

ohh, well yeah i guess she's crate trained..

Customer:

what would you suggest could happen to her (in worse case scenario)

Dr. G. :

Worst case scenario is that there was some damage to a bone causing a small fracture. She likely would not be moving much if this was the case, however puppies are quite resilient.

Customer:

could it be just a sprain then?

Dr. G. :

it could be. That would be best case scenario, and honestly the most likely here

Customer:

okay, that's good to know.. roughly how long would she be able to recover from this

Dr. G. :

she will likely need about 5-7 days to fully recover

Dr. G. :

since she is a puppy, she will heal quickly

Dr. G. :

just make sure she is not able to do any jumping for the next week

Customer:

should i still be able to let her out to roam around in the house?

Dr. G. :

I would try to keep her close to you. Don't let her go around the house without direct supervision at least for the next 3 days

Customer:

okay, thank you so so much

Customer:

you helped ALOT i am so much less worried right now

Dr. G. :

you are very welcome. I wish you the best with little Princess. I know it will be hard to keep her rested, but do your best.
