Hello, my name isXXXXX am a licensed veterinarian and I will try and help you as best as I can.
I am sorry to hear about your little girl.
Has she been scooting at all recently?
I saw her scoot once. She is leaving blood spots on her bed. The area down and to the left of the hole is swollen and pink. She also has an area on her lower tummy that looks like a mild rash.
It sounds like she may have an anal gland abscess if it is swollen to the left of the anus
are you able to get her to the vet today?
what do I do about this?
She will need to have it flushed and be started on antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication
Sorry about this last answer.
didn't go down the screen.
Is there anything I can do besides taking her to the vet?
you could try giving her some benadryl, 1/2 of a 25 mg tablet every 12 hours. This may help to reduce some of the redness. Typically they do not heal well on their own, so unfortunately if there is no improvement on the benadryl, she will need to see a vet.
