My dog has kennel cough. She is 100 lbs and on Minocycline. She gets it with food and is vomiting today. Is this a side effect? What can I give her to settle her stomach?
Hi, I'm Dr. Deb. I will do my best to assist you today.

Yes, absolutely, vomiting is the most common side effect seen with this drug. Some dogs simply can't handle it very well even if it's given with food.

You could give Sushi 20 mg of Pepcid AC about 30 minutes prior to the drug and her food although this may not be enough to prevent her from vomiting. The dose for a dog this size should be 200 mg twice a day; if she's receiving more than this, then I would reduce her dose.
But if she is receiving 200 mg and she continues to vomit despite the Pepcid, then I would discontinue the drug and contact your vet for an alternative.

I hope this helps. Deb
