can you give a dog benedryl to calm nerves
Optional Information: Type of Animal: dog Gender: Male Age: 4 Name of Dog: Moe Already Tried: fire works are scaring him, can I give benedryl
Hello. Yes, often we'll give Benadryl for it's mild sedative properties. The dose we use in dogs is 1-2 mg per lb every 6-8 hours as needed. If that is not enough, then I would talk to your vet about using Acepromazine or Xanax as they provide more reliable sedation. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions.
thank you for your answer, I will pay the $18 for the answer, but do not bill me monthly.
You're welcome. I am not in charge of any of the billing though. It looks like you're only signed up for the one time question. You should contact customer service if you want to verify that though and they will make sure you don't get any bills.
