Hello.

Yes, often we'll give Benadryl for it's mild sedative properties. The dose we use in dogs is 1-2 mg per lb every 6-8 hours as needed.

If that is not enough, then I would talk to your vet about using Acepromazine or Xanax as they provide more reliable sedation.
