The only way to diagnose mange is by scraping the skin, and looking for the microscopic mites under a microscope. There are three types of mange, caused by three different mites.You can treat Chyletiella mites, and scabies mites with monthly applications of Revolution topically. It is a prescription flea and tick treatment that requires a prescription.Demodex mites are another matter, and can require months of treatment. The usually treatment now is daily tiny doses of Ivermectin. So if this is mange / mites, a vet visit will be required for both diagnosis, and treatment.Let me know what else I can answer.
