Hello, I have an 8 year old pitbull, Misty, she has a small cherry sized mole on her cheek and she irritated it by rubbing on the carpet to get dry after her bath and it began to bleed a little. What can I do for it?
Optional Information: Type of Animal: pitbull Gender: Female Age: 8 Name of Dog: Mistylynn Already Tried: put a little flour on it and a little pressure
Hi, I'm Dr. Deb. I will do my best to assist you today.
Sorry to hear that Mistylynn rubbed her mole raw.
I would clean the area with warm water; I wouldn't use alcohol as this will sting and burn and I wouldn't use peroxide as this has been shown to retard healing. I would then apply pressure just has you have been doing. It may take about 3-4 minutes for it to clot. I wouldn't use flour as this will just gum it up.
If you have any antibiotic ointment in the house, like neosporin or bacitracin, I would dap just a little on there.
So antibiotic ointment wont hurt her? Also, you are saying not to use flour? An emergency vet hosp. here in Phx. said it would help to coagulate...
I haven't used the flour before because most of these moles will stop bleeding on their own with just a little pressure. The antibiotic certainly won't hurt her and to be honest, may not even be necessary, but I like to play it safe:)
Thx Dr. Deb! She is my most precious a valuable little girl..can't do much without her!!!
You're welcome....I love her name by the way...I could tell she was very dear to you just from that:)
And I do ACCEPT!! If I have anything fdurther regarding her, does the 18.00 cover one month or how does that work?
