Hi there --

Welcome to Just Answer
I am a licensed veterinarian and will do my best to assist you and Sugar --
IN this situation, steroids and non steroidal antiinflammatory medications (like aspirin) should not be used together.
If there is a great deal of pain -- aspirin (as a mild pain med) is not likely strong enough to assist very much.
Since she is on the pred, the options for pain control are controlled substances and will need a vet visit to obtain.
is there any advice how to help her through the nite, I can take her to the vet tomorrow.
This can be so very difficult if vet care is not available after hours.
First == be sure Sugar has a soft place to lie
Is it her hips that are bothering her -- or other areas?
You can apply warmth. This can be done with a make shift heat pad -- made of rice placed into a sock (tied off) and heated for 2 minutes in a microwave. This will hold heat quite nicely over some time and can be laid on the hips.
Be sure any heat applied is only warm -- and not too hot .
Hot water bottles can be used as well.
But unfortunately, there is not an over the counter medication that would help with the pain -- that can be used with a steroid.
Is there anything else that I might assist you with tonight?
I have one of these pouches for myself so I will do this. Thank you for your help.
