Hello: I have a question about FELV. Our cat went to an animal hospital yesterday. While we were in the exam room, we let her roam around while we talked to the vet. I noticed in the corner of the room, what looked like a litter pan tipped on its side. There was no litter in it, except for what looked like a bit down the bottom.our cat sniffed the pan before I was able to realize and pickrd her up.Can she catch anything from this, FELV, FIV, FIP?
Optional Information: Type of Animal: Cat Gender: Female Age: 4
Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and would be glad to help!
FIP is not something that can be caught - it is a rare mutation of a coronavirus inside the patient's body.
If just sniffing - the likelihood of any disease transmission is incredibly small.
It is typically shed / spread via saliva and nasal secretions, bties, and less commonly in urine, feces, and milk from infected cats.
So she is at very little exposure of FELV or anything else?
Correct
It was also at a reknowned animal hospital so I am sure that they were carefule.
