Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and would be glad to help!
Can you take his temperature?
yes give me a min
ok, it is 100.04
Good - that is normal!
Is there vomiting or diarrhea?
Limping or lameness?
Normal pink gums?
all of the above is good(normal) ,but he seems to walk slowly with caution decisions.
Here are some thoughts.
This may be one of those difficult cases, where the signs are causing some distress, and you are obviously concerned, but are just vague enough that pinpointing an exact cause may be difficulty.
This may be the start of a mild common viral infection. We can also see these signs with non specific stomach upset / gastroenteritis.Back or leg pain, (knee more than others) can cause mild stiffness as well.
What should you monitor for at home specifically aside from general health?Specifically - the inability to urinate, breathing changes, vomiting, or blood in the stool. Those would be more significant concerns. If the signs do not resolve or worsen in the next 24-48 hours, before spending hundreds on tests - NOTHING beats a good physical examination. At that time - I would get a vet appointment just to make sure nothing is wrong. Make sure there is not a reason he is acting this way.
Should we stop with any treats and or any excitement?
That may be reasonable for a day or two to see how the signs progress.
Could this be caused from giving him ice cream last night?
Yes - absolutely!
I was reading posts that pugs may have poor reactions to dairy?
Yes - they can
Well we will stop any dairy intake for our pugs and thank you so much for your advice!
You are very welcome!
