CriticalCareVet :

Welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian and would be glad to help!

CriticalCareVet :

How old is your dog?

CriticalCareVet :

Breed?

Customer:

8

Customer:

yellow lab

CriticalCareVet :

Does it look like this?

CriticalCareVet :

Customer:

No, it is oval shaped. About the size of Pea.

CriticalCareVet :

Without testing, hard to know.

CriticalCareVet :

It can be a benign meibomian gland adenoma.

CriticalCareVet :

It can also be a true cancer, carcinoma or sarcoma.

Customer:

Has a small opening and it is bleeding just a little bit

CriticalCareVet :

In an older pet - best to have this evaluated.

CriticalCareVet :

At times, when bleeding and irritating the eye, even if benign - best to just have it removed.

CriticalCareVet :

This will prevent trauma to the cornea, continued bleeding, and risk of infection

Customer:

ok we plan to take her to the vet tomorrow

CriticalCareVet :

Good - that would be well worth it here.

Customer:

Should we put anything on it for now?

CriticalCareVet :

An e-collar to prevent further scratching / pawing at the lesion

Customer:

Don't have that. Should we dry the blood with a paper towel?

CriticalCareVet :

Yes - you can gently pat the area.

Customer:

Ok thanks, XXXXX XXXXX input. Worth the money.

CriticalCareVet :

Glad to help!
