Aloha! You're speaking to Dr. Michael SalkinThere's generally very little insecticide in those baits and Ruby would only be expected to show gastrointestinal upset - vomiting and/or diarrhea - if any symptoms at all. In fact, the housing of the bait might be more harmful as it passes through her GI tract than the bait itself. To be even more accurate would you please tell me what the active ingredient of that particular cockroach bait was? Thank you in advance for your reply.
Active ingredient is 1.75g indoxacarb. The brand of the bait is Mortein. The dog has only chewed the housing and not swallowed it.
Oh good. The chance of toxicity, then, is nil. Ruby would have had to eat an enormous amount of indoxacarb to cause a hemolytic anemia - the result of long term ingestion of this insecticide. Tell her to cut that stuff out!
