Of course, it is hard to say for sure without being able to examine him, but I would think if he ate the insulation 6 days ago, you would have seen a problem before now.
Has he been having normal bowel movements since eating the insulation?
Yes I believe so, but i haven't been inspecting them, just watching to make sure hes going to the bathroom (we have a large fenced in yard)
Dogs vomit for so so many reasons; literally dozens if not hundreds. Usually if a dog vomits once, I wait to see what happens. If he continues to vomit, or if he is still not eating tomorrow, that is when I would start to be concerned.
I wish I had starting keeping a list of what dogs have eaten when I first became a veterinarian; this would be a new addition.
Ok thanks. I didn't think anything of the insulation at first, not even 100% sure he ate any before i got it from him. But with him throwing up today i started freaking out.
Today's vomiting is probably not related to the insulation, then. Will he drink water?
If so, just let him have water or broth in small amounts for now. If he can keep that down, then dry some food later on, or even tomorrow.
If he has an obstruction, he would not be able to keep water down eventually.
i read a couple of things online saying i should give him metamucil to help him pass anything. should i do that?
Only if he has gone a few hours without vomiting, and has shown you that what he eats stays down.
ok thanks, XXXXX XXXXX very helpful
