Hello, welcome to JustAnswer! I am a licensed veterinarian, and I'll be happy to help you in any way I can. Claritin is generally regarded as safe for dogs, as long as it's not the Claritin-D version. 5mg once or twice daily of regular Claritin is an acceptable dose.

If the eye problems persist even after giving Claritin, you could try artificial tears such as Genteal or Refresh, but if the problem persists then more potent prescription medicine may be required. I would not suggest any over the counter eye remedies like Visine, for use in dogs.
