Reverse Sneeze
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
Yes, that is what he is doing. Does that have anything to do with the scratching he also does?
Expert:  DrRalston replied 5 years ago.
It really can be related. I think that he is doing what is called a reverse sneeze.

It is often caused by allergies, and allergic stimulation of the airway.

Sometimes if you pinch the nose when they are doing it, it will make them stop this noise.

It does not harm them at all. It just looks scary.

Some people have used benedryl at 1 mg per pound every 12 hours to help prevent this.
