Dog Health Questions? Ask a Dog Vet for Answers ASAP
Good Morning and welcome to Just answer. I am Dr. Loretta, a licensed veterinarian and I am happy to answer your question.
You will have to cut the claw at the point where it enters the skin. This will be painful and if you cannot do this, you may need to take him to your vet to get this done. If you can cut the claw, remove it from the skin, clean it with hydrogen peroxide and then apply Neosporin. Usually, a few days of this is plenty but if it acts like it is getting infected, your vet will have to treat max. Since he is so young, it would be best to remove this since it will continue to happen unless you are vigilant about clipping this nail.
Sincerely, Dr. Loretta
