Hello. Thanks for writing in.

Is he pawing at or rubbing his face?

Is the swelling getting larger?

How much does he weigh?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.
he's not pawing at it--he is a bit more restless than normal. i have only been home for about 10 minutes. we went for a short walk and he was normal outside. he's 45 lbs.

Thanks for the information. It sounds like he is having some type of allergic reaction. Unless he has an underlying heart or eye problem (such as glaucoma), Benedryl is usually safe to give to dogs. I would give him about 50mg of Benedryl. You can also place a cold pack over the swollen area. If his signs are starting to get worse, though, after giving the Benedryl, it would be a good idea to get him to your nearest veterinary emergency clinic. He may need stronger medication for a reaction. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps.
