Welcome to JustAnswer, this is Dr. Christie.
I am sorry Leo is not feeling well. I have a few questions for you so I can better help Leo!
Is Leo spayed?
Has she received any new foods recently? new treats? get into any garbage?
If you look at her gums, what color are they?
ok just a sec
How long has she had vomiting? diarrhea? no appetite?
yesterday was the diarrhea, vomiting this evening, last time she ate was Wednesday
Do you know when the last time she was dewormed or is she on monthly heartworm preventative? Is she on any medications currently?
is she on any medications for anything?
yea sorry, just looking for it... meloxicam 7.5 mg
ok, has she been on it for awhile?
yes since january
ok thank you for the information. One last thing. do you have a thermometer, either digital or mercury?
do you think you can take her temperature rectally? you can use vasoline or lubricant, insert the thermometer 1.5-2 in
ok just a sec...102.3
ok good, normal but high normal
Ok thank you for all the information.
I am worried Leo may have a liver infection. This can cause all the symptoms you are seeing-vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite.
Bacteria from the gallbladder can make it's way into the liver and cause infection.
is it treatable
I recommend a checkup with your vet tomorrow to have this confirmed
ok great thanks!!!!
Typically a course of antibiotics and antivomiting medication can help it.
we will take her first thing tomorrow
thank you so much we are very worried about her because of her age
Now certainly, there , could be other things.....gastroenteritis, liver cancer, kidney problems, etc, but I would be most suspiscious of a liver infection
Your vet may recommend running some baseline bloodwork to check her values-this will give your vet the best idea of what is going on internally
Best wishes for Leo!! I hope she has a speedy recovery!!
