My dog is sick, wont eat and has a bloated stomach. She is almost 14 years old, had diarrhea yesterday and is vomiting water whenever she drinks. Also we managed to get a few pieces of cheese in her and she threw that up. She also seems to have what looks like hemmorroids.

Dr. Christie :

Welcome to JustAnswer, this is Dr. Christie.

Dr. Christie :

Dr. Christie :

ok good, normal but high normal

Dr. Christie :

Ok thank you for all the information.

Customer:

your welcome

Dr. Christie :

I am worried Leo may have a liver infection. This can cause all the symptoms you are seeing-vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite.

Dr. Christie :

Bacteria from the gallbladder can make it's way into the liver and cause infection.

Customer:

ok

Customer:

is it treatable

Dr. Christie :

I recommend a checkup with your vet tomorrow to have this confirmed

Customer:

ok great thanks!!!!

Dr. Christie :

Typically a course of antibiotics and antivomiting medication can help it.

Customer:

we will take her first thing tomorrow

Customer:

thank you so much we are very worried about her because of her age

Dr. Christie :

Now certainly, there , could be other things.....gastroenteritis, liver cancer, kidney problems, etc, but I would be most suspiscious of a liver infection

Customer:

ok

Dr. Christie :

Your vet may recommend running some baseline bloodwork to check her values-this will give your vet the best idea of what is going on internally

Customer:

ok

Dr. Christie :

Best wishes for Leo!! I hope she has a speedy recovery!!
