Ask a Dog Vet and Get Answers to Your Dog Veterinary Questions
Hello, I am Dr. Peter a licensed Veterinarian. I would like to help.
In response to your question, at the time the dog ovulates 9-12 days into estrus, there could still be some blood. So, the answer is yes.
If you have additional questions I will be glad to answer them.
1- Is your male dog not neutered?
2- Did they lock?
3- Do you want her to have puppies in the future?
1. she is not neutered, I rescued her from the street recently 2. yes they locked 3. No I don't want her to have puppies in the future.
I am very upset and I am hoping that she did not get pregnant. I don't want puppies
No need to be upset. The simplest, most effective and inexpensive way to approach this is by getting her spayed. If they locked, then there is a very good chance that she is pregnant. All you need to do is call your family veterinarian to have her spayed. They will do some pre anesthetic blood work to make certain she will be ok during the anesthesia and get her spayed right away. It is important to get this done soon as some vets will not do it after 4-5 weeks of pregnancy.
Hope the above helps, if you have additional questions I will be glad to answer them.
