I am sorry to hear about Lady.

It generally means that the skin is having an inflammatory reaction to the tick bite. It can also suggest that some of the mouth parts of the tick have been left behind.

When this irritation is present, I do recommend a veterinary examination. Sometimes, even oral antibiotics can be necessary. It does not necessarily mean that the tick has transmitted a disease like Lyme, but it is always possible. Well worth the checkup.

Good Luck
