Dr. BJ Hughes :

Hi there. Welcome to Just Answer.

How big is your dog? How many did he eat? And how long ago?

JACUSTOMER-60qrkacg- :

Hello

He is about 90 lbs and he ate like 15 maybe 5 mins ago

Dr. BJ Hughes :

Ok

I think all if fine -- while some nuts (macadamia for example) are toxic -- the pistachio does not have this effect -- and the hulls are even less of a concern.

There may be some loose stools or digestive upset due to the increased fiber --

So a bland diet (cooked shite rice for instance) would be helpful for the next 48 hours --

JACUSTOMER-60qrkacg- :

Ok so it won't hurt him?? No bleeding on the inside or anything??

Dr. BJ Hughes :

Occasionally with large amounts an intestinal blockage could be a concern - but your dog is large enough that this should not be a problem either.

JACUSTOMER-60qrkacg- :

Ok thank you !!

Dr. BJ Hughes :

I would watch his stools for the next few days --

If there is any blood or vomiting -- then a vet visit should be made

Feeding soft bread now may also help move these hulls through the system Safely -- 1-2 pieces of soft bread.

You are most welcome.

JACUSTOMER-60qrkacg- :

Its ok he still has puppy gut .. Its loose all the time. Our vet seems to think nothing of it and we brought in a stool sample and nothing..
