My dog has been throwing up for two days and had diarrhea this

My dog has been throwing up for two days and had diarrhea this morning. Overall she is eating normally and playing normally. Please advise.

Hi, I'm going to try to help.

Dr. Karen :

Is she eating and drinking in between her vomiting episodes?

Customer :

yes

Dr. Karen :

Have you tried pulling her food and water away for any period of time?

Customer :

no

Customer :

we usually feed her 2x a day... half a cup of Innova and absolutely no people food

Customer :

her water is left out so that she can get it when she wants

Dr. Karen :

A good place to start is to try to see if resting her stomach helps.

The first thing you should do is not give her any food or anything to drink. Later today, -or at least 12 hours after her last vomiting - give her a little bit of water. If she has kept that down after an hour, give her a little more. If she keeps that down give her a little bit of very bland food (like boiled chicken and rice). The amount of food should be like a small meatball. If she keeps that down after an hour, you can give her a little more food and more water.

Dr. Karen :

If she doesn't make it 12 hours without vomiting, you'll need to bring her to the vet.

Dr. Karen :

She may need an xray just to make sure she is not obstructed with anything indigestible.
