Hello,

These are probably rupture/abscessed anal glands. Anal glands are two structure that sit just inside the anal opening and secrete the musking material so prominent in skunks. They less well developed in dogs and cats. When the drainage of these glands into the anus/rectum is blocked the can expand, get infected and eventually rupture (may have happened here). You may have notice your dog scouting or licking at this area before as they are painful and irritated. A trip to you vet is advised to clean the area up and he may want to start him on antibiotics.

Hope that helps,
