Hello there,

What does the dog weigh?

How long ago was it ingested?

How many milligrams was the pill?
Customer: replied 7 years ago.
my dog weights 24 lbs excedrin 1 tab contains 250 mg of asa caffiene 65 mg and tylenol 250 mg 15 minutes ago ingestion
Expert:  Dr. Scott replied 7 years ago.
The aspirin and caffeine should not cause problems. The Tylenol can be an issue. The maximum dose for a dog this size would be 160 mg. 250 mg is an overdose. If the pill was just ingested, vomiting can be induced with 2-3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide every 5 minutes for 3 attempts. If the pill comes up you should have no problems. If the pill does not come up, stomach ulcers can form and result in severe vomiting. If that occurs, Prilosec OTC can be used at 5 mg per 20 pounds body weight every 24 hours to protect the stomach.

could he die or have serious long lasting effects from this

If he develops stomach ulcers it can be very serious and require oral meds from your vet to treat it. One dose should not result in a perforating ulcer, but if the dog starts vomiting he needs to be examined.
