Hi there,

How old is your dog?

Breed?

How fast is the heart rate?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
He is an 11 month old Cavachon. How rapid? Like if he had been running around chasing my other dog.

Can you count the number of beats in 10 seconds?

Customer: replied 7 years ago.
He fell asleep but I counted 18 now
Expert:  CriticalCareVet replied 7 years ago.
Hi there,

Excellent, if you counted 18 in 10 seconds, in 1 minute that would be 108 beats per minute.

That is actually a very normal heart rate to have in a situation that you describe.

Unless your dog is having other signs of illness or concern, with the heart rate alone if all else is well, I am not concerned!

Please let me know if this helps or your have additional questions!

Is it normal for their heart to race like that for no reason? When I first noticed it, it was like he'd just finished racing around. Then by the time I fount a place to research it, it had slowed down.

Hi there,

I do not consider 108 beats per minute to be racing for a small breed dog such as this....this is quite a normal heart rate :)
