My dog has been throwing up the past 3 days. He cant keep

Resolved Question:

My dog has been throwing up the past 3 days. He can't keep anything down. His vomit has been yellow in color. 3 Days ago he had an allergic reaction to something, and we called our local vet- they said we should give him a very small amount of benadryl and that worked for the reaction. He is an indoor dog, and only eats science diet food. Sometimes he gets those treats like greenies. Any ideas? I can't afford to take him to our local vet

HiCustomer

How many times per day is he vomiting?
How many times has he vomited today?
Is he lethargic, or is he alert and active?
How old is he?

3 days ago he vomited multiple times. The 2nd day he would vomit shortly after eating. He seemed fine throughout the day, I fed him yesterday morning as usual, and he sleeps in a kennel while I'm at work. He didn't vomit while I was gone- there was no sign of it in his kennel. However, after we fed him dinner, he vomited. I figured he was really hungry because his stomach was growly so last night a few hours after vomiting his dinner, I fed him half a piece of bread. It seems as if his stomach digested it. He didn't vomit again until early this morning. It was like a thicker yellow consistancy. He has gotten to the point now where he won't even try eating his dog food (We feed him dry food, science diet nature's best) His disposition hasn't changed a whole lot, when it's time to eat, he gets excited as usual, otherwise he's usually got a pretty laid back attitude. He usually sleeps on a sofa downstairs under a blanket a good majority of the day. You can see in his eyes however he does look like he feels sick/ and or sleepy. He's about 4 years old, and a min pin. He isn't an outside dog, we keep him indoors at all times and he's litter box trained. We have another min pin, a girl that is 3. On the very first day she vomited too, so at first we thought it was because we gave them new treats this week. They are the green bones (an off brand, but like a greenie) That first day their vomit was green like the treats. However, the girl is fine, and his vomiting has not stopped.

the very first day he vomited about 3-4 times. The next day about the same. Yesterday he vomited just the once after dinner. So far today he vomited once

There are many reasons why a dog would vomit this much. The most common include gastrointestinal obstruction with a foreign body (such as a sock, or a piece of a toy), intusussception (obstruction of the intestines when they telescope in on themselves), gastric dilatation and volvulus (twisted stomach), toxic ingestion, gastrointestinal infectious disease (viral, bacterial, etc..), kidney disease, liver disease, pancreatitis, or a simple dietary indiscretion. Differentiating these illnesses requires a physical examination by a veterinarian and blood and urine laboratory testing, plus abdominal X-rays.

Because this has now been going on for multiple days, it is no longer likely that this is a simple gastroenteritis. It really would have resolved by now if this were the case. At this point, he really is going to need to see the vet as it is likely that something serious is going on.

If finances are of concern in this case, there are many organizations that exist to help with this. I am listing some of them here for you to contact and see how they might assist you.

American Animal Hospital Association _http://www.aahahelpingpets.org/home _" Through the AAHA Helping Pets Fund, veterinary care is possible for sick or injured pets even if they have been abandoned or if their owner is experiencing financial hardship."

__Angels 4 Animals _http://www.angels4animals.org/ _"Our services range from financial aid to complete treatment _to those pets and pet owners in need."
