Dodge Repair Questions? Ask a Mechanic for Answers ASAP
Hi, My name is ***** ***** for the delay.I will do my best to assist you.
do you have a volt meter or anything to test with?
will the truck start now?
okyou need to disconnect both batteries and test each separate
that one battery may have shorted out on the inside
are you with the truck now?
we now need to start it and check the voltage with it running..
you need to be careful, that battery may blow up
the alternator may be putting out too much voltage
it needs to be tested before just buying batteries,,even though i think that one battery may be shorted out
do you have a battery load tester?
take both batteries out and take them to the parts store to have them both load tested..to determine if the batteries are good or bad
if you have a bad battery,,replace it,,if the batteries are good, you will need to test the charging system
it should run close to 14.3 volts with the engine running and never below 12v under load
