Customer Question

Broken nipple on forward check valve on fuel tank. Would like to know what com position or type of plastic its made of so I can glue it? Do not want to buy a new fuel tank.
JA: Has the vehicle turned into a gas hog? And how does it start -- same as usual?
Customer: No, its was normal.Fuel tank is out of vehicle right now.
JA: What is the model/year of your Dodge?
Customer: 2004 Ram 1500
JA: Are you fixing your Ram 1500 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I'm working on it. Have tried Lock tite and super glue but glue does not seen to be compatable with the check valve material. Do not know what type of material the valve is made of.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

Adhesives such as epoxy or 3M structural adhesive usually work well on plastics, however I could not officially recommend repairing a broken fuel system component incorrectly. The only safe repair I could recommend for a broken rollover valve would be to replace the fuel tank for safety reasons.
