I have a 2014 Dodge Charger. The check engine light came on.

Customer Question

I have a 2014 Dodge Charger. The check engine light came on. I took the car to my mechanic, and he hooked it up to the computer. He said the code 730 trans came on. He cleared the code and said I need to take the care to the dealership if the light comes on again. What does this code mean, and how long would it take to get it fixed? Thanks!
JA: I'm trying to find the right Dodge Mechanic for you right now. As soon as they are ready, I will let you know. Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: The light stays on - solid.
JA: Are you fixing your Charger yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I don't fix it myself. This is the first problem I've had with it.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: The car felt like it lost power for a couple of seconds yesterday when the light first came on. Since then, it has driven OK.

Good afternoon and welcome to JustAnswer!!

My name is ***** ***** I have worked for a Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep dealership for 19 years and I will do my best to help.

The code you have is P0730-INCORRECT GEAR RATIO

Set Conditions:

  • Shift event not in progress:
    • Actual gear differs from the target gear.
  • Shift event not in progress:
    • Actual (calculated) gear differs from the target (expected) gear.
    • No plausible gear is calculated.
    • Actual (calculated) turbine speed is greater than 300 rpm.
    • Calculated transmission ratio is above threshold.
  • During an upshift:
    • Actual (calculated) gear is less than target (expected) gear.
  • During a downshift:
    • Actual (calculated) gear is greater than target (expected) gear.

If the code comes back you will need the vehicle put on a scantool to diagnose the issue...
