check engine light for code 0401 have checked vacuum lines are good checked control valve has 40 ohms
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: stays on
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: 2000 dodge caravan
JA: Are you fixing your Caravan yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes checked vacuum lines and connections ohms on control valve hooked up vac meter has 15-23 pounds vac also has 40 ohms
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Yes I started engine with vacuum gage in line and disconneted the power to the control for the egr made no difference and no additional codes

ok thanks.

the first thing I would do is to remove the valve and run the engine and check for exhaust at the valve and the other port should be vacuum. you need to verify this first.

POSSIBLE CAUSES

  • EGR valve assembly defective
  • EGR valve assembly mounted incorrectly
  • EGR system failure does not reoccur
