Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

There are several things that can prevent cruise from working. The problem may be the cruise servo itself or a loss of vacuum to it, the issue could be the brake switch, wiring, or it may be a seemingly unrelated issue. For instance a cam or crank sensor, throttle position or MAP sensor issue, or trans issue can prevent cruise from working.

Have you checked for fault codes?
