Is the check engine light on?
That is probably the BEST place to start. Have the vehicle scanned for codes, any codes stored in the TCM will definitely help get this figured out. The most common issue when trans won't shift is a speed sensor issue. Getting it scanned will help determine which speed sensor may be faulty.
I recommend scanning at the dealer as many of the "Generic" Scanners or Code Readers have problems communicating with Sprinters and due to that, either are unable to retreive codes, or the "generic" codes that are retreived can sometimes be incorrect....
