My 2008 dodge Dakota will not go move when I put it in

Customer Question

My 2008 dodge Dakota will not go move when I put it in reverse
JA: Are you fixing your Dakota yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Depends on what's involved. Checked the fluid found it to be a little so I add 1 qt of type 4 ATF
JA: Just to clarify, which fluid are you talking about? And what color and consistency is it?
Customer: Cherry red, consistency is like warm syrup not as thick as bar oil for a chain saw
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: not that I can think of

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.

It looks like the reverse clutches are bad. You need to drop the pan and do an inspection of the valve body and clutches.

Also, look for metal shavings in the pan as well.

Thanks. Ron
