Customer Question

Ihave a 2001 dodge stratus and the airbag light is on. I have an actron scanner that has airbag code capapbility. However it is not showing the module when it scans. The light on the dash does not flash. It comes on when I turn the ignition on and stays on. What should I check. I just got the car and have no history on it.

Hi Eddie,

I would try another scan tool first.

Does your scanner talk to other Dodge air bag modules in other vehicles?

Yes it does. The only time I have had a problem is when my daughters vw car lost power to the airbag module. Used a vagcom and foung out it was getting no power. Does it have a self test like on the fords or can I use the key to retreive like with the obd2 codes.

Ok, it that is the case, it does sound like you have a airbag module power issue, if you scan tool can't talk to it.

I don't think you there is any other type of test.

Can you check the airbag fuse is intact?

I am in bed now. I will check them tomorrow. Are they inside the passenger area or under the hood. Also where is the module at so I can check the connections to it as well.

Expert:  Gary replied 3 months ago.

The fuse should be in the interior fuseblock.

The module will be under the centre console.

Good night for now.
