Customer Question

Changed the water pump on a 2001 dodge stratus. But now it won't start
JA: Has the vehicle ever overheated? And when was it last serviced?
Customer: It was over heating, that's why I changed the water pump.
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes fixing myself. I have power to everything but no response from let turn. Used jumper wire to starter. I will crank but not start. What could be the problem?
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: Just that key gets no crank or start. Only tries to crank with the jumper wire.

Hi, welcome to Just Answer. I’m Ron and I’ll be helping you
Before we get started though, Please understand that I don't know
your skill level or tools you have to assist us. Also understand that
I can't see, smell, hear, or touch the vehicle either, so patience is
appreciated. JA is a great Q/A site, but it does NOT replace a
repair shop.
My goal is to make you happy and get a great rating in return for
my time. Sometimes I have to give you bad news that I know you
didn’t want to hear, so please don’t shoot the messenger.

Check to see if you have power to the injectors. You may have activated the security system if you disconnected the battery.

See attachment for security re-learn too. If this is good, check for spark with a spark tester and check fuel pressure with a gauge.

Thanks, Ron
