Customer Question

Typically my 2008 Dodge Caravan (3.8 liter V6 and 6 speed automatic) wonWON'T DOWN SHIFT WHEN I'm IN CRUISE CONTROL AND GOING UP A
JA: Have you checked the fuse? What size is your engine?
Customer: My 2008 Dodge Caravan (3.8 liter V6 w/6 speed transmission) typically won't down shift when I go up a hill unless I jam the accelerator or down shift to 5th gear. Recently I found that it wouldn't upshift if I moved the shifter to the right. While experimenting, I found that it wouldn't shift back up from any gear. I can solve the problem by moving the shifter to neutral and then shifting back to drive. However, that is not a safe answer if you're on the expressway in traffic. What's wrong?
JA: Are you hoping to fix this yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Only shifting to neutral and then back to drive. Is this a big problem. I'm not inclined to take the car apart or to spend big bucks on it.
JA: Anything else you think the mechanic should know?
Customer: No.
