2001 Chrysler T & C 3.5 L. with 65,000 miles fails smog test

Customer Question

2001 Chrysler T & C 3.5 L. with 65,000 miles fails smog test with an "incomplete Oxygen Heater Sensor" fault code. Smog "test only" tech recommended "putting more miles on it." Retested after 100, 250, and finally 1,800 miles. NG. Tech recommended taking the car to a Chrysler dealer. Dealer said 1) Battery tests weak, try replacing it first . (I did, it WAS over 9 years old). After an additional 275 miles retested and failed again. Dealer said "replace both upstream and downstream sensors, @ cost of $664.00". Ouch! Whaddyarhink?
