Customer Question

93 diesel dually I had the computer supposedly repaired, but still have no charging and speed issues. Do I need to have the computer reprogrammed? do I just need a replacement? can I even get one?

Hi, my name is ***** ***** all have you done to this so far?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
First I replaced the alternator, I have replaced speed sensors on trany and rear end. Sent the computer out to a web based outfit but have little faith that they did anything other than clean the case.

ok, have you pulled codes from the computer yet?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
Also replaced crank sensor. And viewed a hundred useless web sites on eliminating the computer.
Check engine won't stay on long enough to read,

once the light comes on, then it stores the code in the computer until it is manually cleared, have you tried retrieving codes?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
I could not get anything to download.

does your scanner communicate with the computer?

are you still here?

Customer: replied 3 months ago.
If the computer were communicating I would not need to ask for advice, Thank you but I will try a local dealer mechanic.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the PCM isn't awake it could be due to an internal failure, a loss of power or ground to it, a short to voltage on a sensor ground circuit, or a short to ground on a reference voltage circuit.

Has any actual testing been done?
