Ram 2500 v10: Have 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 V10. Very loud rattle

Customer Question

Have 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 V10. Very loud rattle in catalytic converter. Local mechanic says probably OK for now but should replace in near future and when do must use Mopar part even tho much more expensive than many others online. Do I really need to consider paying several hundred dollars more when I do not live in California or New York?

The rattling in your catalytic converter is the insides breaking away. You don't have to replace it with an OE Dodge converter. An aftermarket converter will work perfectly fine. We install aftermarket catalytic converters all the time and don't have problems. Use a decent brand though and not an ebay converter.
