Customer Question

Brad, I talked to you a while back, but I'm having another issue that I just can't resolve it seems. Tried to start my truck, nothing, just click, click. Changed both batteries after charging my old ones. With new batteries, the starter just spins, not turning over, whatsoever. So I replaced the starter, Identical make & model, same scenario. What am I missing, or where have I gone wrong?

please.
Expert:  Amedee replied 9 months ago.

Ok, lets get started. So it clicks multiple times when trying to start it correct?

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No, I changed batteries out and the new starter just spins, it doesn't turn the engine over at all.
Expert:  Amedee replied 9 months ago.

The crankshaft is not spinning at all when cranking correct?

Expert:  Amedee replied 9 months ago.

If not, then chances are the flywheel is cracked or broken preventing the starter from engaging.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
No, starter just spins. I can hear the starter spinning. But it isn't engaging the fly wheel? I'm not sure what's going on.
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
It was fine, but the truck hasn't been started or ran in about 3 months.
Expert:  Amedee replied 9 months ago.

Ok, then something mechanicaly has broke internally in the engine preventing it from turning over.

Expert:  Amedee replied 9 months ago.

The crankshaft could be broke but the most common cause would be a bad/cracked flywheel

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
How? And what could have broken, without it running?
Expert:  Amedee replied 9 months ago.

A flywheel can just crack. It could have happened when cranking the engine over trying to start it..
