Hello. My name is ***** ***** I will be helping you today.

Are you checking while cranking?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Hooked a multimeter to wires and cranked by hand. Fluctuations from 5 volts to 2-3 volts
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Motor ran in donor truck but had lots of problems with swap. Ended changing 1 of the heads
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

You really need to get to the wires on the back of the fuse box for the ASD relay and check it with the relay in place and while cranking so you can figure out which circuit has an issue.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Oh ASD relay? I have no power there, key on or off. Crank sensor had fluctuations
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Do you have power while cranking?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Didn't check while cranking
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

It wont get power if its not cranking.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I was under the impression should have power I pin 30 constant and I believe 86 only with key on?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I also have no peer to to coils with key on
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

The coil gets its power from the ASD relay so that is to be expected.

Some of the wires on the ASD will have power key on but not all of them. To properly test it and figure out which circuit is doing what you really need to get to the wires on the back of the fuse box and test them with the relay in place.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I can split the fuse box to get to wires
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have continuity in the relay itself
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Check the voltage on the two red/white wires with the key on, the dark blue/yellow wire both with the key on and while cranking and the dark green/orange wire while cranking and let me know what you find.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok I won't get back to garage until tomorrow but I'm pretty sure the green orange runs to the coil packs
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Ill be standing by when you get it checked. Just let me know the results.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

OK. I will be standing by awaiting results.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have 1- red w/ blue
1- dk Green w/ orange
1- blue w/ yellow
1- lt green w/ black
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

I dont understand what that means.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
2 thicker wires are red with blue stripe and dark green with orange stripe. 2 smaller wires are blue with yellow stripe and light green with black stripe. 2 smaller wires are 11.8 volts with key on
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Dark green with orange is .1 while cranking. Same with red with blue stripe
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Check all the voltages with the key on and let me know what each wire has with the key on.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
With key on, red with blue stripe is .0 (.1 while cranking)
Dark green with orange stripe is .0, (.1 while cranking)
Other 2 are 11.8 with key on

Do you have voltage on both sides of fuse 12?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Main fuse? 11.9
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

The 20 amp fuse in position 12 in the same fuse box as the ASD relay.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Nothing marking position #
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Do you have the owners manual?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Yeah let me check it
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Not here must be home
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Only 20 amp blade fuses, 3 square 20 amp. Do you mean 20 amp engine control?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
11.9 on 1 side. Nothing on other
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

With the fuse in place?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
With fuse out
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Check continuity between the two terminals. And can you give me a picture of the fuse label?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Looks like 11.9 both sides
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Sorry bad cell service here.
Has continuity
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Did you get the picture
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

I did not.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Won't let me send pictures
Expert:  Wayne Crawford replied 1 year ago.

Im gonna opt out. I dont have a fuse label on it for some reason. Hopefully someone else will and will reply soon. Good luck with it.
